20 Years of Cinema: Latino Film Festival Returns to Humboldt County

McKinleyville, Ca., (KIEM)- For two decades Humboldt State University and College of the Redwoods have joined forces to bring “the world to Humboldt,” in a cinematic celebration of Latin American culture.

The annual festival always takes on a theme. This year its “Chilean Blockbusters.” In years past the films have dealt with immigration and other social topics.

This year’s festival starts Tuesday. Three days of film screenings at Mill Creek Cinema in McKinleyville. Admission is $5. After the credits roll, Chilean writer, musician and journalist Isabel Lipthay will take over as keynote speaker. Organizers say this is often the most unique and anticipated part of the event. A chance to not only interact and earn a deeper understanding of Latino culture.
