Couple arrested on drug bust

Eureka, Ca., (KIEM)- A couple is behind bars tonight after a routine traffic stop turns into a drug bust.

29-year-old Kenneth Hooper, who already had a warrant for sales of controlled substances eventually pulled over after a short pursuit in eureka yesterday afternoon at about 1:30 near the intersection of 3^rd and s street. He was taken into custody but it doesn’t stop there, while Hooper was being detained, officer’s say a woman claiming to be his spouse, 28 year old Marissa Lawson, began to interfere with their procedures.

During a search of their vehicle, officers located over a hundred grams of methamphetamine and indicators of sales Hooper and Lawson were transported and booked into the Humboldt County correctional facility.
