Body at South Jetty identified

EUREKA- We know more tonight about a body found on the South Jetty beach back on January 6 of 2017.

The Humboldt County Sheriff’s office says the man had been listed as a missing person two years ago.

The coroner’s office has identified him as 47-year old Mitchell Hernandez. He was reported missing to the sheriff’s office back on November 23 of 2016. Hernandez was last in the Alderpoint area.

The coroner says his cause of death is consistent with drowning.
