Measure Z funding board votes on where to distribute funds

EUREKA., Ca (KIEM)-What organizations will get a piece of measure z money this fiscal year? That was the topic of today’s Citizens advisory committee meeting.

Board members and the public started to go through about forty applications seeking funds from the Humboldt half-cent sales tax. The board wants the money to go towards safety-oriented programs and essential services, that will most benefit the county as a whole. Organizations in consideration range from in-home care groups, local police departments, and local city governments. such as the city of Trinidad, which today was approved for more patrols in their area.

The next measure z citizen’s advisory committee meeting is scheduled for a week from today, Thursday the 29th from 2 pm to 4 pm, again in the Board of Supervisors Chambers
