Correctional Deputy Allegedly Attacked by Inmate

Eureka, Ca., (KIEM)- At 7:30 a.m. this morning 31-year-old Christopher Jett was allowed out of his jail cell in the maximum security unit for allotted time in the day room.

At that point Jett allegedly attacked a correctional deputy at the Humboldt County Jail, hitting him in the face several times. Deputies were able to restrain the inmate and get him back inside his cell.

The correctional officer they say was attacked has been released from St. Joseph hospital, where he was taken for treatment.

Jett was originally in custody for a parole hold. Now he’s been booked for battery of a custodial officer. Bail is set at $25,000.
