Eureka Council amends butane ordinance to better serve the community

EUREKA., Ca (KIEM)- The City of Eureka unanimously votes to re-write the current butane ordinance, to allow for sales.

In 2016, council adopted the ordinance, which restricted the sales and possession of butane in the city aimed at decreasing hash-oil lab-related incidents. However for local cannabis production facilities, they’ve been forced to look outside the city for their butane needs as a result, local wholesalers have lost business, and the city has seen a loss in sales tax revenue.

Now, wholesale suppliers in the city will be able to sell butane to licensed cannabis manufacturing facilities, and those sales will be recorded and tracked for research purposes. Private butane buyers are still limited to buying no more than 600 milliliters of butane per month.
