Search continues for submerged vehicle in Eel River

GARBERVILLE – The California Highway Patrol is investigating what appears to be a deadly crash off Highway 101 in Mendocino County.

When officers arrived, they saw where a vehicle had gone into the Eel River, but it was submerged. Officers say due to heavy rain, low visibility and the river’s swift current, they couldn’t find the vehicle.

They have continued their search, even using helicopters over the weekend, but they’ve yet to find the vehicle.

We are told a family from Southern California that was traveling from Portland, Oregon to their Santa Clarita home might be the vehicle involved in the crash. They were expected to arrive on last Friday, but have not been heard from since last Thursday.
