Eureka man sustains major injuries after being ejected from car

EUREKA, CA. (KIEM) – A Eureka man will face charges after an early morning crash.

California Highway Patrol says Jason Keyes was driving impaired in a Honda Civic just after 3:30AM on Monday, traveling into Eureka on the Samoa Bridge at a high rate of speed.

They say he drove directly into the concrete center divider of SR-255 – causing the Honda to become airborne, and overturn.

Keyes was not wearing a seat belt, and was ejected from the car – landing south of the 4th Street intersection.

He sustained major injuries, and was taken to Saint Joseph hospital, where he was later airlifted to UC Davis Medical Center for further treatment.
