Carlotta, Ca., (KIEM)- Star Wars Episode Six: Return of the Jedi was released on May 25, 1983, and the world was introduced to Ewoks. Furry, teddy bear like creatures who dwell on the forest moon of Endor, Ewoks befriend Princess Leia and help the Rebel Alliance to fight off Storm Troopers.

Those battle scenes? They were filmed on the North Coast. The majority of the scenes shot on fictional “Endor” were actually set at Jedediah Smith Redwood State Park in Del Norte County. The scene where Luke and Leiah climb aboard a “scooter” style speeder was shot near Carlotta, at Cheatham Grove.

So, if your in Humboldt and Del Norte Counties, and you feel like an ewok might pass you by, you’re probably not alone. These are the trees you’re looking for. To be sure you end up in the right place (we want moons not space stations), check out this area Map of Movies.
