Tip leads to three arrests

EUREKA – A tip about a wanted felon at a Eureka motel leads to three arrests.

30-year-old Andrew Garcia was found at a motel on Broadway. He had an outstanding warrant for being a felon in possession of a firearm.

When drug task force special agents went to arrest him, Garcia tried to run away, but was tackled by an agent. That’s when a semi-automatic pistol fell from his waistband. He was handcuffed and searched and agents say they found about 4-grams of suspected meth on him.

Garcia’s girlfriend, 24-year old Cierra Oscar, was also detained after agents discovered she was on probation. They searched her and found about a half-gram of suspected meth.

A third person, 29-year old Robert Barrios of Gilroy, was also arrested for an outstanding parole violation.

Garcia faces several charges including being a felon with a loaded firearm, possession of a controlled substance for sale, and obstructing or delaying a peace officer. Oscar is charged with possession of a controlled substance, and violation of probation.
