Human remains found near site of Mendocino cliff crash

MENDOCINO COUNTY, CA. (KIEM) – There are new details following the ongoing search efforts for several family members that crashed over a Mendocino cliff.

On March 26, Mendocino County deputies were dispatched to the site of the accident in Westport, where Jennifer and Sarah Hart of Washington, and at least four of their six adopted children, were driving in an SUV.

Jennifer was behind the wheel with alcohol in her system when the SUV went off the oceanside cliff.

The mothers and of their four children – Markis, Jermeiah, Abigail, and Ciera – all died in the crash.

Their two other children, Devonte and Hannah, are still considered missing.

However, a discovery of human remains and children’s clothing was made Wednesday night about a mile away from the crash site.

The Mendocino Coroner is conducting DNA tests to see if the remains are either of the two children.

Mendocino Sheriff Search and Rescue members were at the area again on Thursday, conducting further search efforts.

We will continue to update you on their findings.
