Eureka’s bike to work day

EUREKA- For the last 25 years Humboldt County residents have been celebrating National bike to work day, and today they gathered at the Old town Gazebo in Eureka to do just that.

Roughly 75 bicyclists joined vendors and other bike-enthusiasts today at the plaza. There were raffles and prizes, and residents biked anywhere from 2-20 miles to get to today’s event.

The President of the Humboldt Bay Bicycles Commuter Association told us that they like to promote bikes as a legitimate mode of transportation, all while promoting a healthy and safe lifestyle.

Knapp says their biggest concern is safety, due to distracted drivers. He urges all bicyclists to wear bright clothing and reflectors.
