Stolen vehicle suspect with fake gun leads police on chase

EUREKA- A stolen vehicle suspect flees at high speeds, before giving Eureka Police officers a scare with a fake gun.

37 year-old Titus Gerrell Hill of Eureka was accused of threatening a victim with a firearm.

At around 4:30 Friday afternoon, police tried to pull over Hill who was driving a stolen white Honda civic near G and 11th street.

The suspect fled south on G Street, with speeds reaching 70 miles per hour. Police ended the chase because of the high speeds and unsafe road conditions. But moments later, Hill crashed the Honda into a parked vehicle at Del Norte and G Street.

He then fled on foot, but was located a short time later. That’s when officers say he reached into his waistband, and tossed a handgun onto the ground. Turns out, it was a replica handgun.

Hill was booked into the Humboldt County jail on charges of possession of stolen property, felony evading arrest, and hit and run.
