Fortuna Boy Scouts Keep Memorial Day Traditions Alive

Fortuna, Ca., (KIEM)- Memorial Day weekend is often the kick off for the summer season. Families go on vacation; because of the gorgeous weather they can even get out locally to soak up the sun.

But in Fortuna, Cub Scout Pack 47 and Boy Scout Troops 47 & 205 spent their Saturday honoring veterans in the area. They volunteered to plant flags at the headstones of veterans in five local cemeteries. The tradition is sponsored by the Fortuna VFW post 2207.

The flags will be removed by the scouts on Monday evening, and will be stored until next year.
