An estimated 15 million people are living with cancer today, according to the American Cancer Society. And today, St. Joseph Health honored around 150 local cancer survivors and their loved ones during the Humboldt Crabs baseball game in Arcata.

Staff of St. Joseph felt this was the perfect way to honor those that have shown strength and courage in the face of cancer. Announcers recognized survivors throughout the game, and one patient, Jesse Fordyce, even threw the first pitch.

Fordyce says it’s all about the first experiences, it’s what his life is all about now. He stays positive throughout the process.
