Humboldt County Correctional Deputy credited with saving inmates life

EUREKA, Calif. (KIEM) – Humboldt County Correctional Deputy saves the life of an inmate.

On Monday, Anthony Silva was supervising a minimum security dorm when he heard a male inmate yell for help.

He performed the Heimlich maneuver on the inmate.

Food dislodged from the inmates throat, and was later cleared by medical staff.

Silva said he isn’t just here to get a pay check, but also to help inmates reach their highest potential.

There are 19 correctional deputies that are responsible for the 395 inmates at the county jail in Eureka.
