82 structures destroyed as Klamathon Fire grows to 36,500 acres, 40% contained

SISKIYOU COUNTY, Calif. (KIEM) – The Klamathon Fire at the California-Oregon border continues to burn this week.

The fire has, so far, burned more than 36,500 acres and is 40% percent contained.

82 structures have been destroyed, three people have been injured, and one person has died.

Fire officials say firefighters are facing a challenging week ahead with high winds expected to kick in at every direction.

Evacuation orders, they say, will likely remain in place over the next few days.
