City of Eureka to discuss multi-modal plan

EUREKA.,Ca –The City of Eureka received a Caltrans sustainable communities grant for a North-South Multi-modal Corridor.

The plan is to alter the roads between J and E streets, from 6th to Harris Street, as well as H and I Streets.

The multi-modal plan looks at ways to enhance safety and mobility for walkers and bikers, as well as improving access to transit and motor vehicles.

The project will move forward depending on whether or not the reduction of vehicle travel lanes on H Street and I Street from three lanes to two is acceptable to council. City council member Kim Bergel supports the improvements.

The council will discuss this plan during a special meeting Tuesday afternoon at 4 in the council chamber.
