Eureka, Ca., (KIEM)- Brittany Rachels has a soft spot for special needs kittens. She’s a volunteer, and a veterinary technician at the Humboldt Spay Neuter Network. Recently, she’s taken in two kittens whose chances at survival were slim.

Doodle was found with her mother under a bed. She suffers from a skull deformity that means a lot of where her bone should be is instead soft tissue alone.

Ophelia has an intestine that is, for all intents and purposes, too long. She can’t go to the bathroom very easily, but has done well in recent days.

The two are unique. They’re also best friends, and up for adoption at the Humboldt Spay Neuter Network.
