Two women arrested with 15.7 lbs of marijuana, 1.8 grams of meth

Eureka, Ca., (KIEM)- Just after 8:00 a.m., Wednesday a Humboldt County Sheriff’s Deputy would look into a “suspicious vehicle” under the Van Duzen Bridge near Alton. The two people inside the vehicle are now booked at the Humboldt County jail, after deputies say they had more than 15 pounds of marijuana and 1.8 grams of methamphetamine with them.

Both women inside the vehicle also had outstanding felony arrest warrants. The first, 41-year-old Shala Hoeflich (of Riverbank, Ca.), had two felony warrants out of Mendocino County. She is now also charged with giving false identification to a peace officer and possession of both concentrated cannabis and another controlled substance.

The second woman was wanted for elder abuse. Laura Edeane Maez of Redway, is now booked on those charges, including possession of a firearm within 10 years of conviction and theft from an elder.  Maez was also booked on fresh charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of over 28.5 grams marijuana.
