Suspect in Orick murder will stand trial

ORICK, Calif. (KIEM) – An Arcata man will stand trial for a murder carried out in front of three young boys.

30-year-old Ronald Loureiro Junior is suspected of the crimes that happened on January 4 in a car on Highway 101 in Orick.

He allegedly stabbed 34-year-old Vernon James Weatherford in the heart.

Weatherford was his ex-girlfriends new boyfriend, and her three young sons with Lourerio were also in the car.

Loureiro remains in the Humboldt County Jail, and is scheduled to be arraigned on August 8.
