Alleged narcotics trafficker arrested near Fortuna

Eureka, Ca., (KIEM)- Since just after 4:00 p.m. Thursday, 26-year-old Mitchell Aguiar has been in police custody.
Officers believe Aguiar traffics in narcotics. No surprise after a traffic stop on Highway 101 near the Kenmar Road exit (to Fortuna) led officers to discover a false compartment in his car. A K9 helped sniff out 6 pounds of possible heroin. All six pounds were packaged for sale.
Deputies would go on to search a motel room rented in Aguiar’s name, and find packaging materials and digital scales.
He now faces a laundry list of charges from possession of a controlled substance to driving without a License.
