The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office is assessing the needs of evacuees entering our community as multiple wildfires threaten neighboring counties.

The sheriff’s office is in the process of compiling lists of shelter options, reduced hotel rates, and places evacuees can send their animals.

They have also been working with the Eureka Community Health and Wellness Center for those that lost their medication in the fires.

They have established a public information line for evacuees so they can direct them to the most appropriate resources. The line will be staffed from 8 to 5 weekdays. You can call them at (707) 441-5000.

Karges tells us Redwood Acres is allowing evacuees to r-v and camp for free along with their small animals at their location. She also adds that community members should only donate to legitimate and reputable agencies.
