Arcata, Ca., (KIEM) In the City of Arcata, campaign season has rolled back around.
The Mayor of the City of Arcata, Sofia Pereira, kicked off her 2018 campaign in hopes of being reelected come November of this year.
Mayor Pereira expressed that she hopes to win the hearts of the community once more and said her work in office isn’t complete.
“I think we accomplished a lot in our first term. We really address challenges head-on these past several years and we have a lot of challenges ahead of us. Housing is going to be a really big issue, the threat of sea level rise, and preparing for natural disasters like earthquakes and wildfires are going to be some of the things we are going to have to start planning for and preparing for, now, in these next few years,” said the City of Arcata Mayor.
Pereira was introduced by community leaders including state sen. Mike Mcguire. She is also one of seven announced candidates for the two seats open on the council.
