Humboldt County Transition Age Collaboration kicks off Wellness Week

Eureka, Ca., (KIEM) The Humboldt County Transition Age Youth Group Collaboration kicks off its 6th Annual Wellness Week. From Monday through Thursday, two events will take place each day ranging from environmental cleanup, jewelry making and learning how to be self-sufficient.

“This week is meant to inspire hope as well as connect them with community resources so they can develop their own community and their own health and well-being,” said Youth coordinator for HCTAYC, Calla Peltier-Olson. “Because system impacted young people, like myself, when I was a young person we have really poor outcomes traditionally. We don’t experience the fullness of life that people that don’t have system experience have.”

Peltier-Olson, said the goal of the Transition-Age Youth Program is to create an environment where young people thrive at home, school, work and in their community and events like this help push the youth in the right direction. To learn more or for a full schedule of event visit humboldtgov.org

The transition-age youth program serves youth and young adults ages 16 to 26.
