Arcata Police Department joins in on National Night Out

Arcata, Ca., (KIEM) The Arcata Police Department participates in National Night Out, Tuesday. A night that shines a light on the community and raises awareness in the United States. Promoting police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer.

“This happens in about 30,000 different departments all over the U.S.,” said Sergeant Brian Hoffmanof the Arcata Police Department. “This is our our first year doing it and we’re hoping to build upon it this year. A lot of people come here and are nervous to come up and talk to us but once they get a few minutes to just realize that we are just like everyone else, I think they become more comfortable.”

A night that has been celebrated since the early 1980’s.
