Animals rescued in Eureka structure fire

EURELA- A Eureka home catches fire filling the street with smoke.

Despite the flames, Humboldt Bay Fire fighters rescue several pets from the house– administering oxygen at the scene.

Just before 2:30 Saturday afternoon, fire fighters responded to the scene at 25 West Clark Street.

The fire started on the outside of the home near a deck. It spread to the inside and into the attic.

There were at least 11 cats and seven dogs at the residence. Two of the rescued dogs were given oxygen.

It took around an hour to bring the fire under control.

The cause is under investigation.
