Humboldt Dog Obedience Group hosts its Annual Agility Trial

Eureka, Ca., (KIEM) Humboldt Dog Obedience Group hosted its 3-day agility trial again on Sunday. Dogs and dog owners came out to show their stuff. All breeds of all different colors ran through a series of obstacle courses and were scored for the best times. There were bulldogs, german shepherds, labradors, and even a border collie and pitbull mix. It was a great day watching dogs perform. There were some pretty good times too. The event welcomes any dog, big or small, and allows them to socialize with one another.

Owners got to interact too, asking each other for advice, listening to tips and discussing their dog’s habits. There were also stalls at the 3-day event, where owners could sample new dog products such as beds that are a tough as nails bed designed for destructive dogs, and learn about their dog breeds, making sure they’re fully educated on their dog’s needs and requirements. The event also encourages owners to listen to first-hand experiences from other owners on a variety of topics.

President of Humdog, Marilyn Backman, said she loves that people come from all over to join the Humboldt County dog community,

“We have people from all over the state of Oregon, California and some points West that bring their dogs to run in the competition. It’s great we are very popular because it’s very hot inland and they come because it’s cool and they just become addicted I think about the fun of running your dog and competing.”

Humdogs is a non-profit organization that promotes the benefit of obedience training for all dogs and encouraging responsible dog ownership. They illustrate how dogs should be properly cared for and give advice to those owners who may be struggling with a naughty dog.
