Suspect in Southern Humboldt double homicide pleads not guilty

EUREKA, Calif. (KIEM) – A Chico man accused of a double homicide in Southern Humboldt says he is not guilty.

24-year-old Ulisses Rodriguez was arrested Monday in Chico, and now he is charged with arson, two counts of murder, and making criminal threats to commit a great bodily injury.

On Friday in the Humboldt County Courthouse, Rodriguez pleaded not guilty to Judge Christopher Wilson.

This, after two bodies were found in the back of a burning vehicle last week, on August 14, near the Ettersburg Junction.

The identities of the victims are still unknown pending autopsy results.

Rodriguez is currently being held in the Humboldt County Jail on $4,000,000 bail.

His preliminary hearing is scheduled for September 6.
