Village housing project back up for debate

Arcata, Ca. (KIEM) As it stands, no decision has been made on the proposed village project. Developer’s AMCAL want to build a 600 student unit student complex located on Saint Louis road.

The Arcata City Council received a letter from the Construction Industry Force Account Council – a nonprofit organization dedicated to public contract code compliance – stating that Humboldt State University officials may be intending on avoiding state bidding and wage laws. The Executive Director of the construction council says private developers that build private projects do not comply with the California Public Contract Code or the California Labor Code.

The Arcata city council will discuss the matter Wednesday at a special meeting in the Council Chambers starting at 9 am.
