Cows on Highway 101 cause major injury crash, semi-truck rollover

LOLETA, Ca. (KIEM) – Cows in the middle of the roadway on Highway 101 southbound cause multiple crashes last night.

The first crash was at around 8 Tuesday night, just past the Loleta drive exit. 19-year-old Alexandriah Sae Lim of Fortuna was traveling south when she collided with two cows in the road. She suffered major injuries and was taken to Saint Joseph Hospital for treatment.

Then, just after 2 am another crash this time with a Semi Truck. The driver, 38-year-old Angel Mercado Ramos of Daly city. He attempted to avoid another cow on the roadway causing the semi to overturn.

He, too was taken to the hospital. Scrap metal that he was transporting spilled into both sides of the highway, causing two other minor collisions. The highway was closed in both southbound lanes in each of these crashes.
