In your community: event scheduled to promote literacy

Fortuna, Ca., (KIEM)- The Fortuna Library is proudly sponsoring an initiative that aims to bring children a better start. It’s Family Literacy Night, scheduled for September 12th. It’s an all ages event, meant to help children discover the joy of storytelling (with the hope that that in turn will promote a life long love of reading). There will be folktales and shadow puppet performances. Each child in attendance will receive a free book, donated by Tin Can Mailman in Arcata. The event is held in partnership with the Humboldt Literacy Project.
