Natural Fiber Fair comes to Arcata

Arcata, Ca. (KIEM) Vendors from Northern California and Oregon brought their fiber, tools, and more to the Arcata Community Center for the 2018 Natural Fiber Fair.

Every hour on the hour there were several demos and workshops to choose from. Fabric enthusiast learned about basket weaving, natural dyeing, spinning, knitting and much more. Vendors also offered free demonstrations as well as hands-on workshops.

Local shop owner, Rima Greer of Eureka Fabrics said she has been into fabric from a young age. She adds that making her own clothing is liberating.

“I can make anything I want and I can make it fit me. Most people don’t even realize that the clothes that they buy from the store don’t fit them right” mentioned the shop owner. “I especially love teaching people to learn how to make their own clothes so that they can actually be dressed the way that they want to be dressed. Natural fiber fair is the most fun ever it’s everything textiles fibers fabric, ” said Greer.

Sunday, September 9 2018 was the last day of this year’s Natural Fiber Fair.
