Arcata’s Interim Chief provides update in Josiah Lawson case

Arcata, Ca., (KIEM) The 15th of the month is approaching, which means the one year and five month anniversary of the slaying of Humboldt State University student Josiah Lawson, is almost here.

And questions still remain unanswered, residents of the City of Arcata are desperate to know what happened to Josiah Lawson, that night back in 2017 but also what’s new in the case.

Arcata Police Department’s Interim Chief of Police, Richard Ehle, shared that right now those involved are progressing “fairly well.” Ehle said the department has not made an arrest, but shares that they brought in 2 additional investigators.

“We brought in 2 additional investigators over the course of the last couple of months. In addition to a Case Analyst that did a complete evaluation of the case and during all of that, we had a visit from the Police Foundation,” said the Interim Chief. “The two investigators that were here, were doing that inquiry in an analysis of the response to that of Josiah Lawson investigation from start to finish. Their report will be rendered sometime, we hope, before the end of the year. We’re still waiting for some evidence analysis to be done.”

Ehle later added that all involved will not stop working until an arrest is the end result.
