Women of the Northcoast stand in solidarity to support the ‘Believe Survivors’ Movement

Arcata, Ca., (KIEM) Dozens of protesters took to Capitol Hill to stand against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh’s alleged sexual misconduct.

Monday a group of women across Humboldt County stood in solidarity to support doctor Christine Blasey ford and Deborah Ramirez who have bravely come forward and shared their about sexual misconduct at the hands Kavanaugh.

Protesters carried signs and wore black t-shirts to show support for women affected by sexual assault, including those whose claims were ignored or not believed.

Protestor, Terry Uyeki expressed that what happened to Anita Hill nearly a decade ago is happening all over again.

“It’s just another example of how women and victims are not believed in fact they’re made to seem like they’re getting something out of it, that their not credible. And so we feel like it’s important to stand in solidarity and to try and prevent the confirmation of Brett Kavanaugh.” said Uyeki. “Such a person whose been accused of assault by more than one woman should not even be considered for any judgeship let alone Supreme Court Justice for life.”

Supporters all over flooded social media Monday with walkout photos to promote the #BELIEVESURVIVORS Movement. The protests come hours after a report from a second woman who accuses Kavanaugh of sexual assault in the 1980s. Of course, those accused of such crimes should still be granted legal representation. Those in this situation may be keen to get in touch with a criminal lawyer to defend their rights in court.
