Eureka Candidates Forum continues

Eureka, Ca., (KIEM) Continuing coverage of the Eureka Candidate Forum as elections are nearly a month away. Monday was the second day and a second round of candidates were in the hot seat at the Labor Temple in Eureka.

Candidates running for Eureka City Council and city mayor from Ward 5 were given the opportunity to satisfy the ears of voters while answering questions from any of the 10 co-sponsoring organizations.

Running for mayor of the City of Eureka are Heidi Messner, Michelle Constantine, and Susan Seaman. All three women say they have what it takes to take on the responsibilities, duties and hardships of being city mayor.

“I am a person who is collaborative. I cooperate with people. I understand policy,” expressed Messner. “I believe that the last two years have given me a good working understanding, and a lot of working relationships with in the city or the county in and across our state.”

“I just really want to do some good things for Eureka. I feel like there is a need for leadership and I think that we can do some really great things. I’m good at working on bringing people together, “said Constantine.

“For the last 11 years, “shared Seaman. “I have been working on economic development regionally so I really understand the economy on a regional level and even a rural economy on a state-wide national level so I think that I can bring that information to help propel us forward.”

Runners for Eureka City Council, Joe Bonino and Kim Bregel, were also at Monday’s forum to defend their seats. Election Day is November 6, 2018.
