ARCATA, Ca. (KIEM) – In the wake of what has already been one of the worst fire seasons our state has ever experienced, a community event if raising funds for Carr Fire recovery efforts.
The Carr Fire started back in July in Shasta County, burning 229,651 acres, destroying 1,604 homes, and claiming several lives.
In support of those rebuilding their lives, a fundraiser to support the Disaster Relief Fund is getting underway this Saturday in Arcata.
The event is being hosted by the Portuguese Fraternal Society at the Portuguese Hall in Arcata from 5PM to 9PM. It will include a costume contest, dinner, games for kids, and more.
Pre-sale tickets are available here. The organization also encourages bringing a canned food item to donate.
