Humboldt Bay Fire hosts 5th Annual Bark in the Park

Eureka, Ca., (KIEM) On your barks, get set, go! Sunday was a doggy takeover at Sequoia Park for Humboldt Bay Fire’s 5th Annual Bark in the Park 5K Walk and Run.

Firefighters, family, friends and pals leashed up and took to the starting line at 10am and following the race to the park for playtime.

Every year, the run is organized to benefit a different local non-profit animal charity. This year, Mending Mutts was the organization chosen.

Tracie Conners said her husband is a firefighter and her love is for dogs, today she had a special treat to help raise funds to support both her loves.

“I’m actually in emergency room nurse here locally and it’s a really stressful job,” said Conners. “And to offset the stress and do something that is beautiful and that makes people happy that’s how I got into cupcakes. I baked some cupcakes all the proceeds go to Mending Mutts which is an awesome cause to help out our dogs. We like to serve our community in any way that we can and cupcakes make people happy so why not.”

Mending Mutts is an organization that works to rehabilitate animals of Humboldt County that have special medical needs.
