Three men arrested after large amount of heroin, cash found

EUREKA Ca ,(KIEM)- After a year long investigation, the Humboldt County Drug Task Force makes three arrest in what is to be believed to be the county’s largest heroin seizure in a long time.

Just before six Sunday night, agents contacted 63 year-old Carlos Sanchez-Gallego, from Mexicali, Mexico in his vehicle on the 800 block of West Harris Street. A search of his vehicle resulted in nearly nine pounds of heroin packaged for sale in a hidden compartment. The heroin has an estimated value of $270,000.

Gallego’s associate, Jose Ochoa-Ayon, age 40 from Sinaloa, Mexico was seen driving in the same area and fled from the agents. The pursuit was called off after Ochoa-Ayon drove in the wrong direction on Henderson Street. He was located a short time later.

Another associate, Gilberto Castello-Garcia, 29 years-old from Sinaloa, Mexico was also taken into custody after two ounces of heroin was located at his residence. He was also in possession of a false compartment that contained almost $35,000 in us currency.

All three were transported and booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility.
