68-year-old man collides with large rock on Highway 199

A man is recovering from major injuries after colliding with a large rock while driving on Highway 199.

At around 5:35PM on Tuesday, 68-year-old Bodil Chickinell was traveling southbound on Highway 199, just north of Pioneer Road, in a 1989 Mercedes. That’s when, for reasons unknown, he lost control of his vehicle, crashed into a large rock, and down a steep embankment.

Chickinell is now recovering at Sutter Coast Hospital. California Highway Patrol is still investigating the incident.
