Halloween can be an exciting time with friends and family, but it’s also a time to take extra precautions while celebrating.

Fortuna’s Crime Prevention Specialist, Enoch Ibarra, tells us he follows crime trends throughout the country in hopes of catching them before they reach Humboldt County.

He says parents need to monitor what their children are eating because candy could be laced with drugs, or toxins. Ibarra tells parents to look out for packaging that may have been tampered with, or punctured. He says Halloween night opens the doors for petty crime, and also reminds those celebrating, to watch the roads.
