Fortuna man dies after crashing into tree

LOLETA, Ca (KIEM)- A male driver was killed in a solo crash after slamming into a tree near Loleta.

It happened at around 11:15 Friday morning on Eel River Drive at Copenhagen Road. 75 year-old Steven Laurilliard lost control of the Toyota sedan he was driving and left the roadway colliding with a tree. Laurilliard was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Loleta and Fortuna Volunteer Fire departments responded along with the CHP and City Ambulance.
