Camp Fire continues to burn in Butte County

BUTTE COUNTY- A massive wildfire in Northern California has forced several evacuations and has sent plumes of smoke into the atmosphere.

According to authorities in Butte County, the Camp Fire ignited around 6:30 Thursday morning and has already grown to 20,000 acres.

CalFire has confirmed that three firefighters have been injured in the blaze.

Thousands of residents in several communities have been ordered to evacuate the area as crews continue to battle the blaze.

Officials say the fire is burning towards a local hospital which evacuated at least 60 patients.

And investigators are not certain what sparked the fire.

Several shelters are open to accommodate evacuees.
