Humboldt deputies arrest man for possession of heroin, firearm

HUMBOLDT COUNTY – A man is arrested in Eureka for carrying a firearm, and possession of heroin.

Deputies observed a possible narcotics deal between two men near the 4500 block of Lewis Avenue around 10 o’clock Saturday night.

That’s when both suspects fled. One of them was found at a nearby residence.

He was later identified as 28-year-old Jared Randell Nelson.

During a search of Nelson, deputies located a loaded firearm, ammunition, two grams of suspected heroin, and counterfeit money.

Nelson was booked into the Humboldt County Jail.
