Newest K9 with Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office assists in arrest

A wanted felon is arrested Saturday afternoon in Loleta, with the assistance of the Humboldt County Sheriff’s newest K9.

K9 Gusto was deployed to locate the wanted suspect, Jacob Hines, after an anonymous tip that Hines was near the Bear River Housing area in Loleta.

K9 Gusto located fresh scent and led deputies into thick brush on Summer S. near the intersection of Eel River Dr. There, deputies located a loaded 9mm pistol. After a few hundred feet, K9 Gust, neared Hines, who surrendered to deputies.

Hines was taken into custody. Deputies also detained another wanted felon, Jason Sherman.
