Former Arcata Fire volunteer loses new home in Camp Fire

Arcata, Ca., (KIEM) The battle of the blaze continues as the California Wildfires continue to burn, Tuesday.

Due to the nature of the most destructive wildfire in state history fire-firefighters, nation-wide have teamed-up, geared-up, and made their way to the town of Paradise in Southern California. The Arcata Fire District being one of the participating agency also headed south to assist in the Camp Fire.

Fire Captain, Jon Busher shared that not only did he and some of the fire crew go down to help tackle to fire, he adds this mission means so much because his family is suffering from the fiery inferno.

“My brother and his wife just moved to Paradise the day before the fire. They just finished moving in and he called me Thursday morning a little after eight saying “Hey there’s a huge fire I’m getting out,” said Busher. “He got out of there with only the clothes on his back and then information started coming out about how bad it was and then a few days later we finally did find out that his house has burned down.”

Captain Busher’s brother, Matt Busher, was a former volunteer for the Arcata Fire District.  AFD continues to assist with the containment of the Camp Fire.
