Vehicle theft on the rise in Eureka

The Eureka Police Department says they’ve seen a spike in the number of car thefts this month, with 66 reported incidents since November 1st. Police say the majority of these thefts have occurred when it gets dark, particularly near Henderson Center, and in the area of the Eureka mall.

Everything from purses and wallets to clothing have been stolen. EPD would like to remind people to never leave items in their car in plain sight. And even items being placed in the trunk is not a guarantee to prevent theft.
