Interactive Storyboard Maps come to the Arcata website

Arcata, Ca., (KIEM) The City of Arcata announces its launch of the City’s Geographical Information System Interactive Storyboard Maps.

The new Interactive Maps include information where visitors can go onto the City’s website and take self-guided tours to explore some of Arcata’s famous locations and event sites.

Visitors can also tour Arcata’s trails or take a historical tour of some of Arcata’s historic landmarks dating back to the mid-1800s.

In collaboration with the Wiyot Tribe and Humboldt State University, the Environmental Services Department begin the GIS Interactive Storyboard Project with the focus of providing Arcata residents with more background information about their home. It also highlights notable places, events, and historic landmarks within the City of Arcata.

“It’s an intelligent web map that combines text, photos, and multimedia videos with maps,” said Brian Kang, GIS Coordinator of City of Arcata. “I think it’s important to understand where we come from and take a look and explore the different things in Arcata and hopefully walk away with learning something new.”
