Hoopa child transported to hospital after receiving major injuries from firecracker

HOOPA, Ca. (KIEM) – A five year-old boy is flown to an out of area hospital, after a firecracker exploded inside a Hoopa home on Monday.

The boys sustained major injuries to his face, and hands, after an M-80 type firecracker exploded just before 1:00PM at a residence on Grasshopper Lane.

The 5-year-old was transported to the UC Davis Medical Center, and his current condition is not known.

The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office is the lead investigating agency in this case.
