Eureka burglary victim retrieves stolen motorcycles with help from social media tip

EUREKA, Ca. (KIEM) – A burglary victim has stolen property returned, with help from social media.

The victim contacted Eureka police on Monday morning, after receiving an anonymous tip on social media that his five stolen motorcycles were seen at the green belt, on the 2800 block of Broadway. Eureka police say all five motorcycles, and the victim’s BMX bicycle were there.

The burglary, which happened last week, is still under investigation by Eureka police. Anyone with tips is asked to contact Officer Mendoza at 707-441-4060.

From the Eureka Police Department: 

On 12/3/2018 at about 10:48 am, officers of the Eureka Police Department were dispatched to the green belt at the 2800 block of Broadway for a possible stolen vehicle(s) recovery. The Reporting Party (RP) stated that he had received anonymous information via social media that his stolen motorcycles were possibly at this location. The RP had reported his vehicles stolen, as part of a burglary report he made to the Eureka Police Department, the week before.

Upon arrival, officers were able to locate all five of the stolen motorcycles and the RP’s BMX bicycle. The vehicles were recovered and released back to the RP at the scene.
